Photo of Tom MaxonTom Maxon will enter his ninth season as the Mustangs' head women's soccer coach during the 2008 campaign. He is also the head coach of Morningside's men's soccer team.

Maxon has a 86-69-6 record with the Morningside women since starting up the school's varsity program. He was named the 2007 NAIA Region III Coach of the Year and the 2007 GPAC Coach of the Year after he guided the Mustangs to a 17-3-1 record, GPAC and Region III championships, and a second straight NAIA National Tournament appearance. Maxon led Morningside to a 15-5-1 record and the college's first-ever appearance in the NAIA National Tournament during the 2007 season.

He led the Mustangs to an 18-2 record in 2002 during their first season as a member of the NAIA. 

Maxon has guided the Morningside men to five consecutive NAIA Region Playoff appearances and was named the 2004 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men's Soccer Coach of the Year after he guided the Mustangs to a 9-2 GPAC record and a share of the league championship.

Maxon has an overall record of 235-182-19 in the collegiate ranks. He previously coached at St. Mary of the Plains College and at National American University.

Maxon also coached five seasons in the Premier Development League, leading his 1999 Sioux City Breeze team to the Midwest Regional Final with a 19-4 record, and his 2001 Sioux Falls SpitFire team to the National Final Four with a 20-3-1 record.

Maxon, a United States Soccer Federation 'A' licensed coach, is a 1988 graduate of the University of Southern Maine, where he was a two-time All-American midfielder and set a school record for career assists. He played professionally in Germany and the United States following his collegiate career.

He received a master's degree in sports management from the United States Sports Academy in 1990.

 

Assistant Coach Kalie Gaskill

Photo of Kalie GaskillKalie Gaskill was twice named the NAIA National Women's Soccer Player of the Week during her collegiate career at Dordt College, where she graduated as the Defenders' all-time career scoring leader.

Gaskill graduated from Sioux City North High School in 1997 as a five-year letterwinner. She earned all-city honors three times and was an honorable mention all-city selection as a freshman. As a senior, Gaskill led the Siouxland Soccer Conference with 22 goals. She also had eight assists to finish the season with 52 points. She had 26 goals and 15 assists for 67 points as a sophomore.
