Jacklyn Barber, associate professor of nursing education at Morningside College, and Patricia Graham, assistant professor of nursing education at Morningside, in May each earned a doctorate in education/health professions education from College of St. Mary in Omaha, Neb.
Barber has a bachelor’s degree from Morningside College and a master’s degree in nursing from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. The research project she completed for her doctoral dissertation was “Nursing Students’ Perception of Their Spiritual Awareness After Participating in a Spiritual Workshop and Oral History Project.”
Graham has a bachelor’s degree from College of Saint Mary and a master’s degree in nursing with an emphasis in health systems and community health from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. The research project she completed for her doctoral dissertation was “Nursing Students’ Perception about How Prepared They Are to Assess Patients’ Spiritual Needs.”
Barber has been a member of Morningside’s faculty since 1997. She also independently consults for rural hospitals and long-term care facilities by developing and implementing in-service presentations on a wide variety of health topics. Morningside presented her with a Sharon Walker Faculty Excellence Award in 2006.
Graham has been a faculty member at Morningside since August 2005. She was previously a member of the faculty at College of Saint Mary, where she served as instructor, course coordinator and academic advisor in the associate degree nursing program.
